The controller & setup allows you to break the tether to the lectern and engage the audience fully while having discrete access to your notes.
I find that the device is most discrete if I place the controller on the ring finger of my non-dominant hand and rotating it so that I can advance the slides with the thumb on that same hand.

If you are not using slides for your talk,
You can use the device to control your laptop and use it as prompter.
It should almost completely cut out the time needed to memorize a talk.
Just put a laptop at the foot of the stage or on a chair between you and the audience.
