With that in mind, here are some tips to make certain you project the image you want to project.

Do’s

  • Post the agenda prior to the meeting and follow it as closely as possible.
  • Announce that you are going to be on a video meeting to the people at the house. Make certain people are not walking around naked in the background
  • Join early. Be online well before your conference starts (10-15 minutes) to test and/or troubleshoot your technology
  • Keep your presentation within the time they have given you. Use a stopwatch or clock in a very visible place.
  • Mute yourself if you’re not talking
  • Stop your video if you’re stepping away from your computer.

Don’ts

  • Don’t go over your allotted time.
  • Don’t speak over other speakers.
  • Don’t eat on camera.
  • Don’t pick your nose while on camera or when your microphone is on.
  • Don’t forget to wear clothes over your underwear.
  • Avoid conversing with others in your room while on camera.
  • Don’t go to the bathroom with your camera or mic on.
